I'm Joe Whitten, owner of this site, husband of Zosilyn Whitten, software developer professionally, photograher by heart. I love both of the aforementioned tasks. I have found that software development supports my passion for photograhy very well and I feel blessed to be able to go to work every day and do something that I truly enjoy.

My interest in photography began when I was very young and received a Kodak 126 instamatic camera for Christmans. I used that camera for many years having no idea shat shutter speed or aperature meant. I also had no concept of film speed. I just boughtfilm that fit my camera, took pictures and had them developed.

Scuba diving sparked a renewed interest in photography when I was in my 20s. I bought a Pentax ME Super, 35mm camera followed shortly by a Nikonos IV underwater camera.
I've owned several cameras since then. One of my all time favorites was my Nikon FE2, 35mm. I shot thousands of Kodachrome slides with that camera. I still wax nostalgic for those days of waiting anxiously for me slides to return from Kodak, placing them in the projector, making dupes with my bellows and 55mm Nikkor lens. But, those days are behind us all now, Film is all but dead and digital rules now. While I was skeptical in the beginning, I am overjoyed now with the advancements in DSLRs and the software available for editng images such as Photoshop, and for digital video such as PowerDirector. Things I once spent weeks trying to accomplish with my images, I can now do literally in minutes with Photoshop - and much better. No stinky chemicals, much lower cost, and better results. I love technology.

In a nutshell, that's who I am. I will be posting articles about photography, software, cameras, and other related topics here. I hope you enjoy the info you will find here and that some of it is useful to you.
